It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome! I really love the colors of this sunflower Jerzie grew. We planted all the seeds left over from last year so I'm not sure what it's called.

I bought 2 of this plant in a very little pot at the beginning of the season. I went back for more but they didn't have any. I it a relative of the sun drops and evening prim rose. The 2 stems have bloomed off and on all summer. I sure hope they make it thru the winter!

I had to show you my Dianthis, Heart Attack now that it's blooming. I love the dark color and also the burgundy in the leaves.

The next pictures are all Astilbe. They didn't bloom for long this year because it has been so hot and dry but they were pretty when they did. I had too much blooming at the same time and never showed them.

If you click on this one to enlarge it you will see little tiny purple dots on it. I never knew they were there!

If you missed my seed post this week, I want to let you know I have perennial Sweet Pea and Foxglove seeds if you are interested. Just e-mail me your address. I see that our numbers are getting smaller and would like to take a poll to see how many of you are interested in going until Nov 30th. I have pictures you haven't seen and I'm sure most of you do.

Mystery trip!

The girls and I went on a mystery trip when they stayed over on Sat. As we were driving, I told Jerzie we were going across the lake in our car but not on a bridge. She said we'd have to find a really big boat to do that!I took them on the Bemus Point-Stow Ferry that goes across Chautauqua Lake. As you can see, it has been in operation for 199 years. Luckily there are a group of people that do the work to keep it going and volunteers operate it. It runs in the summer on weekends and the cost is any donation.

Driving up to the ferry on the Stow side.

Here comes our ride!

The ferry holds nine cars at a time. The operators let all the kids blow the horn and ring the bell. Sorry I didn't get pics of my Sweeties but I was more concerned about keeping hold of Payton and the trip went really fast.

When I was a kid this was the only way to get across the lake. Now we have the bridge in the background.

Coming into Bemus.

It was a beautiful night for a ferry ride and the girls really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it if you are in the Chautauqua Lake area. What would you do on a nice night after a ferry ride but stop for ice cream on the way home.

Too Quiet!

I was in the kitchen working the other day when I realized it was very quiet. As most of you know, when you have kids in the house and it gets quiet, you'd better check it out!
This is what I found. My sweeties sitting at my computer, with my glasses on!
Being older, I use bifocals but don't need them all the time. I have magnified glasses in several spots, including the computer and the living room. I'm sure none of you have that problem!
Payton is coping Mommy by putting her glasses on her head.

Even tho I had to explain that wearing my glasses was not good for their eyes, I couldn't help but laugh. Hence, the fuzzy picture.

Thank goodness that's all they are into.
Lesson learned, when things get too quiet you'd better check it out. You don't want to miss a laugh or a photo op!

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

I know you've heard it before but I love my Limelight Hydrangea!
This is the third year for my bush and it gets better every year.

The green color as the buds start turning to blooms is awesome.

The hint of green as it blooms is beautiful.

The heads are big and bold.

It thrives in sun, even with little rain when other hydrangea are droopy.

It turns a lovely shades of burgundy as the weather changes.
I love my Limelight Hydrangea!

Food for Thought

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!
If you read my last post you saw that I have been digging out yellow loosestrife, bachelor buttons and black-eyed-Susans from my wild garden. A huge local nursery has been selling gallon perennials for 5 dollars a pot and I've been going crazy. Actually, it's a great time for me to be adding to the garden. Here's what I've added.
Stokes Aster, colorwheel.

Stonecrop, Novem.

Agastache aurantiaca, Apricot Sprite.
The rest of the pictures are from the Internet because the plants are not blooming now.

Clustered Bellflower, emerald.

Dianthus, Heart Attack.

Penstemon, Sweet Joanne

Lobelia, Fan Salmon.

Lobelia, Monet Moment

Skullcap,Arcobaleno

Closeup of Scullcap.

Globeflower, Golden Queen.

The garden looks awful bare but I know I need to be patient and let everything fill in. I'm already excited to see what spring will bring. Now if I can just stay away from that nursery!
If you would like to join our garden tour, just add your name, state and permalink to Mr Linky. Please remember to add a link to this blog on your post.
Now pour yourself a cold drink, sit back and enjoy!

Still digging!

I got a couple more cone flowers to add to the back side of my wild garden. I seem to be getting addicted to them! This one is called Flame Thrower. The color changes from red near the center to orange.

Harvest Moon is a great name for this one.

I love the golden color!

This week I dug out the front area of the wild bed

and all down the side near the stairs.
I have given away plants to 3 neighbors, some customers, my daughter, and a couple friends from facebook! I still had a few Black-eyed-Susans left over!
I think the hardest part is making sure I don't plant too much. This are was so filled in it's hard to get used to it being so sparse. At least I picked a great time to do it. A local nursery is still selling gallon perennials for 5 bucks a gallon. My car just goes there all by itself! lol!
I'll show you everything I planted on Bloomin' Tuesday!
