Fashion Show!

Gramma has been shopping again so I have to put on a fashion show! I love the pretty colors in my new dress!
Gramma says now I'll need some new spring shoes. She wouldn't let me wear my Elmo sneakers for the "photo shoot".
I also like the ribbon bow on my dress...
... and it has 3 sparkly buttons on the top.
When Gramma showed me this cute jean skirt I said "cool!"
That's exactly how I feel in this outfit, cool!
I love the little flowers. (Gramma- I found this Rider skirt for 5 dollars at Big Lots!)
This is another top option with the skirt.
The belt is very stylish, don't you think?
Now all we need is a little warmer weather and some new shoes, of course, so I can wear my new clothes.

Bulletin boards

I decided I wanted some kind of bulletin board to put on the back of my computer desk for some of the neat things I had gotten from fellow bloggers. I found 2 picture frames I wasn't using. I got some foam board and used the frame backs to cut pieces to fit. I got some material and used spray adhesive to stick it to the foam board. Then I just glued down the edges and put them in the frames. The board is thick enough that you don't need a back .
I put some crisscross ribbon on one.
Instead of pins I used some heart post earrings that I don't wear to hold some of the items on the board.
Then I just hung them behind my computer screen.
I like the way they fill up a dark space and I can see things that otherwise might be stuck in a drawer. The plus is, it only cost a couple dollars and I'm using some frames that I like but wasn't using.

I was wondering....

...is it spring yet?
I got this in an e-mail and laughed out loud at the expression on this baby's face. Do you feel like this?
I did get excited when I saw my first robin this morning.
Then I went outside to look for more signs of spring.... ..and I found some. Buds on the prim roses. A few daffodils popping up here and there, where the snow has melted.
And then, I heard the weather report! We're supposed to get 2 to 4 inches of snow overnight! Hopefully they will be wrong, except that it was supposed to rain today and it's snowing a little instead. At least I have some spring inside. My daughter gave me this gorgeous lily for Easter. The color is amazing!
I'm still trusting that spring will arrive soon!

A bird in hand...

I got a package in the mail yesterday and I was so excited! I knew what it was immediately and couldn't wait to see it!I had been to Beachy's blog and seen something I loved. She had put it in her Etsy shop and I was fortunate enough to buy it before someone else did. She added a darling tag and a tiny glittery note card. Aren't you dying to know what it is?This beautiful relish spoon with a nest and vintage bird!
I knew it would be perfect on my mantle with the other vintage birds. Even the coral color of the bird is perfect. It sets right on this old woodwork piece and the crystal hangs over the edge.I even had to make a new topper with the spoon in it. It's hard to see because it is so tiny but it's on the left side in front of the picture.
Thanks, Beachy! I love it!

Jerzie Day

Jerzie isn't feeling the best today because she has a cold but she's still her happy self. I gave her a barking doggy puppet and a spring outfit for Easter.

We had to go out to my accountant today so we stopped at the store where I work. The girls hadn't seen Jerzie in awhile. I saw this cute woven bag with the marked down Easter stuff. There was an egg on the front but I took it off. I will make a great bag for Jerzie to carry her stuff in this summer.

That's it for today. She doesn't feel like posing for pictures today.

Belated Easter card

I know it's a little late but I just received this lovely card (link) via e-mail and I wanted to share it with you. It could really be titled Happy Spring!

Deal

HAPPY EASTER! I got this box at work last night for $4.99.
This is what was in it. Eight pots full of daffodils. Some are the tiny variety and some are regular size. Looks like there are several bulbs in each pot. Seems like a good deal to me.
Now all I have to do is remember to plant them!

Window box

Even tho it's snowing, I decorated my window box (click to see how I made it and where I got the idea) for spring. This is the first year I've had it so it's fun to decide what I have to put in it. I'm sure I'll come up with some new things every season.

I got this watering can at a household sale last year. The bunny and bird are garden decorations. I'll use them in the garden when I change the box for summer.

I used dark wood for the inside of the box but have decided that everything shows up better on a lighter background. I have a piece of muslin tacked to the back but in the summer I'm going to white wash the bead board. I wanted to make sure it worked better light before I did it.

Happy Spring!

It doesn't look much like spring here this morning ! We had a couple inches of snow over night but I'm still thinking spring!
If you'd like to get started in the garden early, check out Spring Planting. Just click on the page and move your mouse.
I haven't been good about commenting lately but I have been stopping by. Hopefully the promise of spring will get me motivated.
Wishing you a very Happy Spring!

Reasons

I saw a list of 10 reasons I'm looking forward to spring and decided to make my list, too.
Reason 1. I want to feel the warmth of the sun! Since I keep my heat way down (except for when Jerzie is here) I'm really looking forward to being warm. Because of having melanoma, I can't be in the sun except in the spring when I'm still well covered.

Reason2. I love checking my gardens a couple times a day in the spring because there is always something popping up. I can't wait to see and smell all the spring flowers.

Reason 3. I love working in the garden when it is still cool outside. I can't wait to see what comes up that I forgot about.

Reason 4. I'm very excited about taking Jerzie to the playgrounds now that she's old enough to enjoy it. I'm also excited to show her around the garden and have picnics in the yard.

Reason 5. I'm very tired of shoveling snow!! I'm just plain tired of winter! Winter coats, winter boots, hats, scarves, gloves. I'm tired of cleaning snow and ice off my car (no garage)

Reason 6. I love to have my windows open. I open them at the first sign of spring even if it's still cool.

Reason 7. I'm really going to try to walk in between jobs. I'll get motivated when the weather is nice and the sidewalks are clear. I did actually go for a walk last Saturday afternoon when the sun was shining.

Reason 8. I won't have to warm my car up for 10 minutes and waste all that gas!

Reason 9. I love spending time on my deck, especially in the spring before it gets too hot

Reason 10. Hopefully, I can get my roof fixed so I can finish the last wall in my bedroom makeover, finally!

If you decide to list the reasons you're ready for spring, please leave me a comment so I can check out your reasons.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Our little leprechaun changed from this...... to this!
What a difference a year makes!
From a toothless grin to earrings, ponytails and ...
...and fingernail polish!

Time is moving way too fast! Time to slow down little girl!

Have a great day!

Show and Tell

I'm not quite sure what I was thinking at the time but I kept my Grandmother's and Mother's birthday books. Grandma got this one for Christmas from her sister in 1918. Grandma was 18 at the time. It is a record of more than just birthdays. She put weddings and deaths in her book. This was also Grandma's. There is no date of when it was purchased but it cost $1.75. She also recorded deaths, weddings and when she knew it, the birth year. There are several familiar names of family and friends in here.According to the inside cover, my kids and I gave these to my Mom and Grandma in 1989 for Easter. These two are filled with mostly kids, grand kids and great grand kids. All the names in these are very familiar to me.
This is my birthday book. Like the two above it has very few names and looks very unused and unloved. I have always had great intentions, especially after my Mom died, of sending cards to my nieces and nephews and their kids for their birthdays.I even have card programs in my computer, plenty of envelopes and I always have a supply of stamps. I have no excuses but I'm sure if put on the spot I could come up with a couple. I certainly don't want to start and then leave someone out! (See I told you!) When I'm gone I would much rather have my birthday book look like my Grandma's well worn book than my unloved, unused book! I'm not sure why I saved these books but I'm glad I did.
Are you good at sending cards or do you have good intentions like me? Do you have a system that works for you? I'd love to hear about it. Just leave me a comment and tell me your ideas. I would really like to have more than good intentions!
For more Show and Tell posts go over to Kelli's House.

Busy days

I'm happy to say business has picked up at the shop this week. I only had 1 hour between jobs yesterday and today is my long day in the shop.Thought I'd give you a couple more snow and ice shots. Sounds like we're in for more although the temps are supposed in the 40's at some point.
Click to enlarge and see all the sparrows in the icy tree.Hope you are having a good day!
See you tomorrow for Show and Tell.
