It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!Today it's all about blue. No, I'm not blue, but my blooms are! These plants are not blooming now but they all bloomed earlier in the season.
Blue spiderwort.
I love this plant in bud with all the hanging bunches of buds.

This is a grass with these tiny blue flowers on the ends.

Short blue bell flowers.

I'm not sure what this plant is. I bought it because I love the dark green with the burgundy edging. The only thing I don't like is the blue flowers. For some reason they don't seem to go with the leaves.

Sea holly.

Globe thistle.

Gentiana Septemfida, Summer gentian. This is a low growing plant. I love the intense blue and the striped buds. There is no question about this being a blue plant!

Pie Safe

I found this old tin pie safe at a barn sale. It was spray painted avacado green. (Sorry, I forgot to take a before picture). I used spray Zip Strip to remove the green paint. I wanted to keep some of the underneath cream and light beige color.Getting rid of some of the piant really brought out the detail in the tin work.
There was only one tin shelf inside but that was okay with me. I had to cut it down slightly to fit it under my kitchen counter but the detail was all on the door so it didn't hurt the look. It makes a great bread box.

I like the rustic look and it fills this deep corner on my counter very well. A great buy for 20 dollars!

One more?

Can you stand one more flea market find? I just had to have this hard plastic Santa.As you can see from this picture, he is about 17 inches tall. He has a hole in the back for a light and holes in the feet for stakes. I couldn't find any markings or maker anywhere.
I'm guessing it's from the 50's or early 60's. Anyone have one of these when they were young?

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!Not too much new blooming this week. A few foxgloves, Stella D'Ore lilies and bachelor buttons are on the second time around.
The fall crocus (colchicum) did pop up this week. I always forget about them until I see them pop out of the ground. A pretty surprise.
I thought I'd show you some new plants I got this season. I loved the color of this Limerock Dream Coreopsis.
This is a new lavander I found at Lowe's. It's called silver edge Lavandia. There is a thin white outline on the leaves.

I just got this one. It's a Leptinella 'Platt's Black'. I'll have to wait until next year to see what it looks like.

You all know how I love ferns. I couldn't resist this fern like ground cover. The pot I bought didn't have a tag and I can't remember the name.

I'm not usually a fan of blanket flowers but the colors of this one are fabulous. It's called 'Oranges and Lemons', a perfect name!

Another Buck!

I got this old, handmade tin scoop for another dollar at the flea market. I wasn't sure what I would do with it but I loved it.

I think it makes an interesting shelf in my entry way. I didn't do anything but wash it and add a small hole for a nail at the top.
I love the wavy, rough cut, rusty tin
and the square handle.
I'd rather shop at a flea market than a dollar store, how about you?

White lightning!

This is my favorite item I found at the flea market on Sunday. Any idea what it is?I love the green patina. The white ball is too bright for my liking so I'm searching for a clear colored ball.
Another piece of wonderful garden art, an old lightning rod! I never thought I'd be lucky enough to find one. I thought about it for about 2 seconds!
Sunday was my lucky day at the flea market! I still have a couple more items to show another day.

A steal!

I went to a local flea market last weekend and I found this wall plaque for a dollar. I have it on an easel instead of the wall.
I love the colors and the texture. A real steal as far as I'm concerned!

Sorry, folks! I totally forgot what day it was! All I can say is 'brain fart'! I'm on my way to a Dr for a test so no time. I'll resume Bloomin' Tuesday next week.

Accents

I found this cool swirled piece of metal in the basement of a household sale. I bought it not having any idea what I would do with it. It was only a dollar and I liked itWhile digging in my new garden area I found this small rust covered piece so, of course, I washed it and saved it.I decided they would work well together as an accent around this window in my kitchen. My daughter did this window for me several years ago. I love the look!
