Good Morning!

The end.

I'm going to start at the end of our Columbus Day weekend. After you have heard my story you will understand why. We were up Monday morning around 7 as usual. We needed to be packed up and out of our cabin by 11, then we were going to meet some family for a picnic at a pavilion. As usual, I grabbed the teakettle and went across the road to get water while Chris added wood to the wood stove. As you can see, we had a tree right in front of the cabin. I had been very careful walking over the tree roots all weekend. I guess I wasn't so careful Monday morning because I started to stumble. Next thing I knew I was on the ground. The kids said I screamed but I don't remember. All I remember is feeling a space in my mouth. I had knocked out a tooth! Chris and Laurie were afraid to get me up at first but I didn't hurt anywhere but my mouth which was bleeding profusely. Apparently, I hit between my nose and mouth on the handle of the kettle and broke it off. Laurie put my shoe back on and they got me up. I laid on the bed and held ice to my face and a paper towel in my mouth while the kids packed up all our stuff and filled my car. Just before we left the bleeding stopped. Laurie drove me home and called my dentist. They got me right in to a periodontist hoping for an implant. I apologized for smelling of wood smoke and being muddy. I didn't tell them I only had my pj's on under the running suit! Because of a severe case on gingivitis and a bad dentist several years ago I cannot have an implant. Friday I will be getting 3 more loose teeth taken out and a temporary partial put in. I have spent several hundred dollars trying to save my teeth, including $1200. gum surgery, over the years so this has been very traumatic to me. A new part of my body hurts every day but it's nothing I can't handle.
On the flip side, I'm thankful I didn't break any bones or get a head trauma. I'm very thankful that my son and his family were in a different area camping so Jerzie didn't see me bleeding or hear me scream. I'm also relieved to have good dental insurance because I have no idea what this will end up costing.

Now that this is out of the way, I'll be showing you and telling you about the 3 good days!

Changes

My bedroom is finally all repaired, repainted and cleaned! I'm very happy to have it finished. I like the new border better than the last. It has all my favorites, lilacs, hydrangea, violets and even ferns!My kids and I are off to Allegheny State Park to stay in a cabin in the woods for the weekend. Laurie, Chris and I leave tomorrow afternoon.

I'm very sorry, but due to a lack of interest, I will be stopping Bloomin' Tuesday at least for the winter. I'd love to start in the spring again if there is more interest. I will still be showing my flowers from time to time and hope you will continue to stop by. I have really enjoyed getting to know my fellow gardening bloggers and seeing your blooms.

I like leaving hydrangea on the bushes to dry. They seem to be prettier, plus I love them in the fall as much as the summer.

In a nutshell.

Sorry I've been so scarce in blogland this week. It's been a crazy week!. On Tuesday, I knocked part of a wall down in my bedroom so it could be replaced. I'd had a roof leak that no one could fix (because they wouldn't listen to me!),
Luckily I didn't have to take down as much as expected. Wednesday I took off the old border and worked both jobs. Chris replaced the plaster and will finish up today. I painted a little today and want to finish this week . I also have to get ready to go camping with the kids next weekend.
Friday I worked in the shop and then drove to Buffalo to get the stitches out from the tissue removal surgery because of the precancerous mole. The report came out all clear!
I got home just in time to take Jerzie to the Enchanted Forest at the Audubon Center. We had a great time even tho it rained constantly.
Kids were dressed as different animals at stations throughout the trail in the woods and talked about themselves.

There was a garter snake, a bat,

a coyote and a bear,

and a tree frog.

After the walk we went inside for cider and popcorn. They also had some crafts to make. Jerzie made a spider. I know she had a good time because even tho we had done everything, she didn't want to leave. I wish I had gotten more pictures but I didn't want the rain to ruin the camera.

That's my week, in a nutshell. Looks like this coming week will be as bad but then I'll relax and let the kids cook for me on the weekend! I hope you had a great week. I'll check on you as I get time.

Christmas?!!!

I went to a couple sales last week and all I found were Christmas decorations. I always check them out, you never know what you can find. I found a couple real treasures.I found a few old ornaments that I liked. Usually they are a dollar or two but I got these for a quarter each.
I also found this cardboard art. The nativity has red cellophane on the back so it will look great with a light behind it.
These last 3 items were in boxes with Christmas junk in them. I can't believe they didn't get ruined and I'm awful glad I dug in the boxes. This snowman is an ornament. His body is a glass bulb with 'snow' on it. His face and buttons are raised from the body but all one piece.

This reindeer is unbelievable! It is glass and completely intact except for the very end of one of the antlers.

It appears that it was all silver at one time. Anyone have any info on this or the snowman? I think I found some great pieces. It sure pays to dig thru boxes!

I have some exciting news to share this week! I have been invited to be a part of the Audubon's Secret Garden Tour next summer! A customer gave them my name and 3 ladies came to tour my gardens last week and asked me to join. It will be one Saturday in June or July. People will buy a ticket and tour about 6 different gardens on their own during the day. I'm very excited right now but will probably be a 'bear' in the spring.
