Garbage Detail

 When I went out after dark to put the garbage out last night his bunch of Evening Prim Roses were blooming like crazy.  I'm sure the neighbors wondered if I was crazy taking pictures in the

dark!

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!

We have finally gotten some much needed rain and warmer temps. The lawns and plants never lost their green because of the mild winter so they are really pretty now.

This is a view of the prim roses along the path in the shade garden. The topper is a view from the end of the path.

The money plant is in bloom. This is planted in a wild area on the side of my house because it is so invasive. I love having it for arrangements in the fall. It's only a few feet on a hill so I just planted the whole area so I didn't need to mow.

I love Fritillary lilies and I definitely need some more. I thought they would spread faster.

This plant is right next to the other one but it's still in bud. Looks like 3 more blooms coming.

The lilies are in this bed, with some Allium, in the lower left. There are a few tulips blooming in front of my tree peony.

A few more tulips bloomin' in the large 'wild' garden behind the last pic. I don't have much luck with tulips. Only a couple come up in every clump I plant. Maybe I need to dig up the bloomers and plant them all together.

The white Trillium is blooming. They are so beautiful when you come upon them growing wild in the woods. I have tried to make my back shade garden to resemble the woods.

I'm sitting on my deck listening to the birds sing. It's a beautiful, sunny 70 degree morning with a nice breeze. It's supposed to be high in the 40's tomorrow!

Last Week

Blooms!

I wanted to show you that I do really have blooms and not just shade garden plants.The foxglove aren't as tall as last year but they are still beautiful.
They have been blooming for about a week now.


This spot is right by my front door.

I just bought these giant allium last year and was very happy to see them bloom this year.

Siberian (?) Iris in the day lily bed.

Cottage Flora!

There may not be a lot of new blooms in my garden but that doesn't mean nothing is happening.
Everything just gets greener and taller. Seems like every time I look I see something new coming up. This is the side garden. All the blue you see is forget-me-nots.

A week has really made a difference in the shade garden. The white on the right is the trillium and the Barrenwort is in the lower right corner.

This is the other side of the shade garden. If you click to enlarge, you can see a burgundy and a golden color coral bells. The new coral bells add so many interesting colors to a shady area just by their foliage.

At first I couldn't figure out what this huge plant in my middle garden was. I got several new plants last year and figured it was one of those. When it grew so fast I figured it was a weed.
It is actually a volunteer money plant. I want to move it but it's quite dry now so I think I'll wait until it rains again.

The Bergenia is blooming now even tho most of its leaves got ruined last year during the house painting. The leaves are leathery and stay all winter. Some have a burgundy color to them.

The Barrenwort in the shaded area is full of tiny blooms this year. The bloom reminds me of Columbine.Both the green and the variegated Vinca are full of their pretty purple flowers.

Cottage Flora!

I've been wanting to join Traci and friends for Cottage Flora Thursday for awhile now but never get to it. Today I'm going to show you a new garden area I'm working on.

The grass in this area of my front lawn wasn't growing very well so, of course, I decided I might as well extend the garden! I dug off all the sod last weekend .

I started some planting but was stopped by the weather. I took the garden pictures this morning and I want you to notice the sunshine! We haven't seen any of this since last Saturday.


I got the 'ladder' at a household sale. I cemented it in the ground and planted a clematis to grow on it.

I used some old croquet mallets and balls for the corners along with a primrose.

I added some hyacinth bulbs I got for Easter and a few miniature daffodil bulbs. I put my kid statues beside the ladder. That's all the planting I have done so far. This area gets morning and evening shade so I'll need to be careful what I plant. I would love to get out and work today but I have to work at the paying job and it is only about 40 degrees.

I got a couple more cone flowers to add to the back side of my wild garden. I seem to be getting addicted to them!This one is called Flame Thrower. The color changes from red near the center to orange.

Harvest Moon is a great name for this one.

I love the golden color!

This week I dug out the front area of the wild bed

and all down the side near the stairs.

I have given away plants to 3 neighbors, some customers, my daughter, and a couple friends from facebook! I still had a few Black-eyed-Susans left over!

I think the hardest part is making sure I don't plant too much. This are was so filled in it's hard to get used to it being so sparse. At least I picked a great time to do it. A local nursery is still selling gallon perennials for 5 bucks a gallon. My car just goes there all by itself! lol!
