It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

 Welcome!
We are back to our summer weather again! Sunny and in the 80's. and again hoping for rain.
The azalea in the front of the house is really putting on a show this year.

I have lilies-of-the-valley and goutweed planted under the azalea.  My Grandma had these planted by her back door. There is a lovely scent in the whole front of the house.
There are pink lilies-of-the-valley under the holly bush next to the azalea. I love them but they don't smell like the white.
I only have one Allium blooming so far this year.  I think it's too hot and dry.  You can see the leaves turning brown.
There  is only one bloom on my peony tree this year.
It is definitely a beautiful bloom!
The shade garden is coming alive. There aren't a lot of blooms but the colors and textures make up for that. The creeping foam flower is blooming.

I had to show you the bitterroot this week.  It's less than 6 inches across and look at those blooms!
I'm looking forward to seeing what's bloomin' where you are planted so add your  name and permalink to Mr Linky . Please remember to add a link to this post on your blog so your followers and enjoy and/or join the tour.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday

Welcome!
Gone are our warm summer like days. We are back to winter!  It snowed off  and on all day today and yesterday, although nothing has stuck. We are supposed to get a hard frost tonight.  It is impossible to cover my gardens but I will cover 3 hydrangea bushes that got hit bad last year. They are just beginning to come up.
First this week is the shade garden.
The white
and pink bleeding heart are blooming nicely so far.  I moved the pink to a spot with a little more morning sun last fall.
The Jack Frost Brunnera  is full of the sweet little blue blooms. When I got this plant for color I didn't realize it bloomed.
I love the purple blooms hiding in the Myrtle planted over a stump I wanted hidden.

Jack-in-the-Pulpit, one of my favorite flowers that grows in the woods. I have them in a couple spots and they are spreading.  The bloom is hidden under the leaves so you really need to search for them.
These wild strawberries have decided to grow by my shed under some bushes.  They are growing on top of mulch and landscape paper.  I don't have the heart to pull them out.  We do fight the birds for them when we get fruit.
I found this Summit Alyssum on a 'dead' rack at Lowe's.  I bought 2 and they are both doing well. These are in the sidewalk garden.
I planted this Bitterroot 2 years ago.  I put in 6 plants and only have 2 left.  I haven't found them again locally so I'm hoping these will eventually spread.

Even the Holly bush is putting on a show!  I've always heard you needed 2, a male and a female, but my one bush has blooms and berries every year.
I'm hoping to be able to show you full gardens soon.  The bloomin' plants are pretty spread out this time of year. That's it for this week.  Can't wait to come visit and see what you have blomin' this  winter spring!

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

 Welcome!
Spring has really sprung early in Western New York!  We've had sun and temps in the 70's every day for over a week.  Only problem with that is we need rain.  I tried to weed Sunday and it was impossible.  There was no way all the roots came out. On the bright side, we have lots of bloomin' goin' on!
I love the Fritilary Lily.  The checkered is my favorite.  They lasted less than a week.

The Trillium are bloomin' in the shade garden.  I planted more last year but no blooms on them .
Soft purple Creeping Phlox are well started.
Grape Hyacinth and orange tulips, about the only ones the deer didn't eat. I love the color combo.
Lots of Forget-Me-Nots.  This is the area the girls plant so I'll just pull these out when they quit blooming.
The bougainvillea is doing well.  We had a late frost last year so we missed a lot of our spring blooms.
I'm anxious to see what you have bloomin'.  Just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky to join the spring tour.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome to the 7th annual Bloomin' Tuesday!

I'm going to start this week with a pet peeve of mine.  I started Bloomin' Tuesday to share garden photos with every day trial and error gardeners like me.  I have enjoyed doing this for several years. It seems the new trend for a couple years is to see how many followers we can get.  Personally, I don't care!  I don't enjoy being a vehicle for those bloggers that are using Bloomin' Tuesday for that purpose. I get very irritated when I go to a blog that does one post a week and has a list of parties they are involved in for the week.  I ask that you put a link to my blog just so your followers can enjoy and possibly join our tour. I used to comment on every post I went to, now I comment on those that leave me a comment.  I'm sorry if some of you are offended but I am entitled to my opinion.  I'm also sorry I found it necessary to post this on the first Tuesday of 2013 but I know that most of the guilty ones are only here on Bloomin' Tuesday.  I've also realized that they don't read my post when they sign up so this year I will be removing these posts.
Now let's get to the fun!
I showed all my bloomers last week so this week I'm showing some of the lovely flowering trees and shrubs that are blooming around the city.

I love the weeping trees  but I prefer the natural look myself.
Can't have spring without some dandelions!  These are not in my yard, mine aren't blooming yet! lol!

Bloomin' Tuesday!

I think our threat of snow is over here in Western NY although it is in the 30's this morning, so it must be time to start Bloomin' Tuesday!
I will try to post by 9 Monday night. All you need to do is take some pictures and add your post to Mr Linky.
See you on Bloomin' Tuesday!

Recycled Bathroom

I haven't blogged in a long time (darn that face book!) but thought you might like to see my recycled bathroom.
I changed out my newer medicine cabinet for an old painted one.  It has beveled glass, a glass knob and chippy paint.  All I did was smooth sand a little and scrub.   Behind the kids chair/stool is a small galvanized bucket for a waste basket.  I had the cupboard on the left made so it would fit the space.
I used this large handle for a towel holder.  Just drilled screw holes and hang.
 Perfect fit!

I decorated with canning jars and my flower frog collection.
This piece was green so I crackle painted it a cream shade.  The blue metal box was in my stash from household sales.

This toilet paper holder was a harness hook.  My son-in-law took it to work and bent it (It was a long hook that came straight out) so it would hold the paper.
I put backing on a kitchen towel to make a shade and found these adorable canning jar light covers I had to have!  The swag is just some grape vines I bundled together.
 An old grain scoop
A drawer full of flower frogs
This cupboard was wood with a solid door. I busted out the center and added wire. I layered leftover paint in shades of cream until I liked it. Then stained and added vintage drawer pulls.

I have a couple old hair dryers in my beauty shop but couldn't resist this aqua one, or the aqua faced alarm clock.
The figures on the bottom shelf are part of my Shawnee Pottery collection.

Repainted tissue holder topped with 2 more flower frogs.
I love that I found everything except the paint and the new cabinet at household sales and flea markets.  I just dug thru my stash and found new uses.  Rewarding and sooo much fun!
