Cookies!

Yesterday was cookie day! Jerzie and her Mommy and Daddy came over to help me. I had all the dough mixed so we had to bake everything. Jerzie wouldn't touch the dough. Mommy tried to get her to help make the Spritz red but she wanted nothing to do with that.
She decided to help as long as she didn't have to touch it.
She did enjoy the melted chocolate though.
Might as well put the whole spatula in your mouth.
Not too many people can smile with a spatula in their mouth!

The new cookie press worked pretty good.
Cream wafers (we call them Julie cookies because we got the recipe from Julie) every ones favorites.
Peanut butter blossoms, some with peanut butter cups instead of kisses.
Toffee before it's broken up.
We got 6 kinds done. I just have one more to make and the baking will be done. Next, work on wrapping and making snacks.

Gifted!

I was "gifted" this darling pair of socks and tag by the very gifted Dawn!The buttons came from her Grandmother's button box. I'm looking forward to wearing them. Thanks, Dawn!

I bought my item at an antique mall several years ago. I'm really not sure why I bought it, except it is quite unique.

Do you have any idea what this is?
It was made by the Hoan, Housewares for all Nations, Hong Kong. Hoan Housewares is still in existence today under Lifetime Brands.
This is the speedy way to make cut out cookies! You can make a star, large gingerbread man, a bell, Santa, tree, reindeer, and a small gingerbread boy and girl, all with one press. I've never used this to make cookies but have displayed it in my kitchen at Christmas. I have no idea what year it was made. Have you ever seen one?

Santas

I thought I'd show you some of my Christmas decor today. These pictures are from my kitchen,which is more "rustic" than the living and dining rooms.I love this Santa picture. It is on a piece ot tin. It's not old but looks it. I painted this a few years ago. I have different pictures that go in it. I'll put a snowman picture in when Christmas is over.

When I had my kitchen done I had one glass cupboard door and I painted it dark green. The contractor thought I was crazy but I love displaying things it it. This is where I put some vintage Santas and light boxes. The Saturday Evening Post box is a puzzle my Mom had. The plastic Santa holding a bubble light on the bottom shelf we had when I was a kid.I decided to display this woven blanket since it doesn't match my house the rest of the year.
The Merry Christmas wooden letters were perfect for the shelf. The light bulbs are wooden ones I painted, antiqued and strung on some twine.

Jerzie Day!

Jerzie is loving the Christmas decorations! I turn all the lights on when she's here. We got our tree on Saturday and this is the first she's seen it all done. She is so good about not touching!
I put a stuffed Santa and a snowman by her bed so she could touch them but she hasn't yet.Her favorite figurines even have a Christmas tree! I moved them down one shelf so she could see them better.
Birds, bubble lights,(like my Grandma's tree), and vintage bulbs.

A present!

One of my customers gave me this adorable candle holder for Christmas (along with some snickerdoodles and spritz cookies!).Of course I love it because it has a snowman on it!
Just look what it is made of. A clay pot and saucer!
The possibilities for this are endless! A smaller set would hold a votive candle. You could put some greens around the candle and paint (or stencil) holly or pine on the base. They could be made for any season and would be a great candle for a patio or deck.

Sooner or later you will be seeing variations on this right here! What would you do with this idea?

Show and Tell

This week my Show and Tell is a nativity that we had when I was young. All the figures are made of wax but they are not candles. This is not the stable that went with it.My daughter is using that with her nativity.

The scale of baby Jesus isn't quite right but I love it any way.The shepard with the sheep around it's neck is my favorite. See the cow looking out from the stable?
I also like the camel.
There are only 2 wisemen but notice that one is black. There are also 2 angels with the set.
I'm not sure where this set came from but I know it's over 45 years old. I have never run across any pieces like these. Do you remember a nativity like this?

Enough already!!

When I saw this material I knew I'd have to get it, even though I have enough! I spotted this while Christmas shopping in Erie.Don't you just love him? He's the first toile snowman I've ever seen!
I figure I deserved him for getting my shopping done so early! Could you leave him in the store?

Wreath

I decided I wanted some kind of bead or berry wreath for the wreath stand in my dining room. I looked when I was in Erie and they were 30 to 40 dollars! No way I'm paying that much. Most of them had a grapevine base so I decided to try to make one. I got all I needed for less than $15.
I pulled apart the icy branches and hot glued them to the wreath. Then I just stuck the berry sprays into the wreath and bent the stems around the wreath. I used 10 sprays,
I didn't even cut or glue the sprays so if I decide I want to do something else with them I can.

I like the glass look beads with the berries.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out and with the price!

Fun day by Jerzie

Gramma and I are having a fun day together. ( I think she's trying to make up for last week when she was too busy making dinner!) First she made me 2 cool Christmas shirts.
She bought these ironons years ago and has been saving them just for me!
I really like the Santa on this one.
Aren't they cute? I can't wait to wear them!
They are even cute from the back.
Gramma went to Erie yesterday and bought me a new snow suit. I had to try it on to make sure it fit.
Have you ever seen flowered snowpants?The inside of the hood matches the snowpants.
We went over to see my friends Ann and JJ as long as I had my outside clothes on. I'm not sure yet if I like the snow or not. I know it's cold and wet and the wind takes my breath away!
I'm going to go take a nap now so Gramma and I can play some more when I get up.

December!

I can't believe it's December 1st already! The last page on my calendar.I've put some of my Santa's in my window box. I'm really enjoying decorating it.
I can't get a good picture because of the glare so I opened it up so you can see it better.
People seem to notice it more now that the gardens are done blooming.
As you can see in my header, I put a spotlight on it too.

Sorry, I haven't been around to visit. I have been real busy raking leaves, decorating inside and out, taring my roof, etc. Yes, you read right! I discovered a leak in my bedroom. The roof shingles were bad, even tho they are fairly new, from me trying to break up ice. We've had a lot of wind that must have blown the water under the shingles. Before work Thursday morning I climbed out the window with a large bucket of tar and tarred the loose shingles. I sure hope it works!

P.S. I did most of my Christmas blog decor myself, with a little help from Chris. I figured if you gals could do it, so could I. Irritating at times but fun, too.
