This week my Show and Tell is a nativity that we had when I was young. All the figures are made of wax but they are not candles. This is not the stable that went with it.My daughter is using that with her nativity.
The scale of baby Jesus isn't quite right but I love it any way.The shepard with the sheep around it's neck is my favorite. See the cow looking out from the stable?
I also like the camel.
There are only 2 wisemen but notice that one is black. There are also 2 angels with the set.
I'm not sure where this set came from but I know it's over 45 years old. I have never run across any pieces like these. Do you remember a nativity like this?

those are just awesome! It amazes me how long wax holds up!! Conserning the age of the baby---Actually the wise men didn't come to the stable ---so by the time they saw Jesus he would have been a bit older--in Matthew it says "Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod.....and "they came into the house and saw the Child with Mary His mother...."--so by the time they came Jesus was in a house. Herod killed all kids 2 and under so he may have be older than newborn ;-) when the wise men came.
Wow....just plain ol' wow!!!!!!
How unique.....I've never seen one made out of wax!!!

Wow! that is so wonderful! I also love nativity sets, but I don't have anything nearly so interesting and heartwarming as this one of yours. It was a treat to even see pictures!
How neat that they've held up for so long! We had some special ornaments made of wax, but they melted in the attic. :-(

I very much like these pictures of your very special nativity. It reminds me of my parents nativity which must be around 35 years now.
Best wishes from Germany,

Jean,
These are beautiful. I remember Grandma having a wax nativity, but it was a little different than this one. It intrigued me as a child.
I enjoyed viewing this wonderful vintage piece. It is a wonderful keepsake and I'm sure you treasure it.
Blessings,
Mary
I'm thinking your wax set is a lot older than you think. It is very unique. I've not seen anything quite like it -- and I've seen some pretty old things :) thank you for sharing this unique set.

For being 45 years old it sure is in good shape. I don't believe I've seen wax ones before. The camel is great!

What a wonderful nativity set and no, I don't ever recall seeing a set like that made of wax! It truly has stayed in great shape and such wonderful memories it holds for you. xox
