Thank you!

Only a quick post today. I got called in to work so only an hour between jobs. I want to thank everyone that participated in and commented on Bloomin' Tuesday. I think it went very well for the first week. Please remember it is a weekly sign up so any week you have something to share (Did your hubby bring you flowers?) just put your link on Mr Linky and a link to the list on your blog. If you didn't already, check out the beautiful display of blooms. A couple signed up late so scroll down and make sure you saw them all.
Laurie picked up this flat of clearance tulips at Walmart yesterday. She got herself a flat too. I can't wait to see what this one looks like when it opens.

Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday!

I'm really excited about the beginning of Bloomin' Tuesday! I can't wait to see what's "bloomin' where you are planted"!Here are 4 buttons to pick from if you would like one on your sidebar or on your Bloomin' Tuesday post. (Thanks Chris, my favorite son-in-law, for the buttons and the tech help!) Our maple trees are bloomin' here in Western New York. Won't be long and the trees will be covered with leaves. I have some trillium bloomin'. These are not the wild variety. They are definitely one of my favorites! I also have several prim roses that are open. Some are in bud as soon as the snow melts. They love the cool weather and almost look dead when it gets too hot.I love the white around the centers and edges on this pink one. I showed daffodils last week and now it's tulip time. I only have a couple here and there but I love to see large clumps of them The black centers are a strong contrast to the soft colors. How many shades of pink are in one little flower? Show us your blooms! You can show everything that is blooming, post about a specific plant that you enjoy or a garden tour you went on. You have complete control over what you post, as long as it is garden related. The 2 buttons are available if you would like to add one to your blog. Of course, if this is going to work, you will have to direct people to the list so they can sign up or just enjoy the posts. I will have Mr Linky up about 10 o'clock on Monday nights so you can add your link any time from then on. You must sign up every week you want to participate. I do ask that you link to the specific post and not your entire blog. (Click on the time at the bottom of your post and copy the address from there.)

Temperamental Model!

Laurie and I went to Buffalo to a craft show yesterday. We had a fun day, especially since we don't get to do things together very often anymore. After the show we did a little shopping. At least I did a little. Laurie found some great sales and did a lot! I said I wasn't going to look at kids clothes but the area Laurie was in was right next to the kids clothes so of course I wandered over. I did plan on looking at shoes at Target because I'd seen some cute ones in an add awhile ago. Aren't these adorable? I got the bracelet at the show.

My plan was to have a fashion show and surprise Mommy but I have a temperamental model on my hands today. She wouldn't even let me take a picture of her shoes on!
You will just have to imagine how cute Jerzie will look in these!
I love the details and the polka dots on this one!
Who can resist Carter dresses for under $8.?
I have bought a patriotic dress the last 2 years so I had to get one this year too! Jerzie can wear it for Memorial Day and July 4th. She can always wear a shirt under it if it's cool.
We'll see how my model is after a second nap. Maybe she'll change her mind and want her picture taken!

Edit-She was a little more agreeable after her nap but she has nap hair . I didn't dare push my luck!See that smirk? I'm sure she knows exactly what she's doing!

Don't forget "Bloomin' Tuesday" tomorrow!

The Clothes Line

The Clothes Line
The clothes line....a dead give away. Do the kids today even know what a clothes line is? I am sure a lot of you are too young to remember the clothes line, but for all of us who are older, this will bring back the memories. . . .

THE BASIC RULES
1. You had to wash the clothes line before hanging any clothes. Walk the length of each line with a damp cloth around the line.
2. You had to hang the clothes in a certain order and always hang whites with whites and hang them first.

3. You never hung a shirt by the shoulders, always by the tail. What would the neighbors think?

4. Wash day on a Monday...........never hang clothes on the weekend or Sunday for heaven's sake!

5. Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your 'unmentionables' in the middle.

6. It didn't matter if it was sub zero weather.............clothes would 'freeze dry.'

7. Always gather the clothes pins when taking down dry clothes. Pins left on the line was 'tacky'.

8. If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothes pins with the next washed item.

9. Clothes off of the line before dinner time, neatly folded in the clothes basket and ready to be ironed.

10. IRONED?????????? Well, that's a whole other subject.

A clothes line was a news forecast

To neighbors passing by.

There were no secrets you could keep

When clothes were hung to dry.

It also was a friendly link

For neighbors always knew

If company had stopped on by

To spend a night or two.

For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets'

And towels upon the line;

You'd see the 'company table cloths'

With intricate design.

The line announced a baby's birth

To folks who lived inside

As brand new infant clothes were hung

So carefully with pride.

The ages of the children could

So readily be known

By watching how the sizes changed

You'd know how much they'd grown.

It also told when illness struck,

As extra sheets were hung;

Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,

Haphazardly were strung.

It said, 'Gone on vacation now'

When lines hung limp and bare.

It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged

With not an inch to spare.

New folks in town were scorned upon

If wash was dingy gray,

As neighbors carefully raised their brows,

And looked the other way..

But clotheslines now are of the past

For dryers make work less.

Now what goes on inside a home

Is anybody's guess.

I really miss that way of life.

It was a friendly sign

When neighbors knew each other best

By what hung on the line

Show and Tell

I've been looking for a couple years for something to replace this cabinet on my deck. I've never run across anything in the price range I was willing to spend (very cheap!) I like to keep my dishes I use outside handy. My deck is off my kitchen and because my house is built on a hill it is on the second floor. There is no access from outside and it has a full roof over it so it's really an extension of my house.
I was trying to think if anything in my upstairs would work at least temporarily and I thought about this dresser. I don't know why I didn't think of this before but it was used in my son's bedroom and was like a built in under the roof line in his attic like room. The whole wall was filled with cupboards, drawers and this dresser.
I know the color is terrible but it did look good when you saw the whole picture!
I love the chippy look and the detail in this chest. I took out the drawers and dragged it down the stairs and started working. I sanded it and put on 2 coats of primer .
Then I painted it and sanded it some more. I might change the knobs if I see something I like but for now I just put some flower stickers on them. I like the little bit of blue showing thru.
It's certainly much better than the other one and it didn't cost me a thing! Everything I used was stuff that I had.

If you enjoy taking or seeing garden pictures check out "Bloomin Tuesday". The fun will start this coming Tuesday.

If you'd like to join Show and Tell Friday or see the list of posts for this week run over to Kelli's House.

A "Little" Project

I'm slowly working on the projects I want to get done this spring. I completed a "little" one this week. Some of you may remember this small wicker chair I got at a sale. I decided it needed a little dressing up. I had some material left over from my mini ottoman project that I thought would work perfectly for a cushion. What's a cute chair without some pom poms! I just hot glued these to the front.
Add a cute pillow from another sale and Jerzie has a perfect chair for the deck that matches everything else.I'll show you another deck project tomorrow.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

One of my pet peeves about blogging is a "permanent" list of bloggers that sign up to post a certain thing on a picked day of the week. I was in a group like this and before you knew it there were over 100 signed up. It's super that there are 100 bloggers interested but the problem is only about half posted every week. I spent hours going to blogs that hadn't posted in weeks. What does that have to do with Bloomin' Tuesday? I would like to have several bloggers post pictures from their gardens on Tuesdays. There will be no "permanent" list but a Mr Linky. You can sign up any Tuesday that you feel like taking part.
I am not doing this to increase traffic to my blog, but because I enjoy seeing every one's gardens. There will be no rules! There will be a button available if you would like to add it to your blog. (Edit: The first 2 pictures are the buttons, take your pick) Of course, if this is going to work, you will have to direct people to the list with a link to my blog, so they can sign up or just enjoy the posts.
I will have Mr Linky up about 10 o'clock on Monday nights so you can add your link any time from then on. I do ask that you link to the specific post (perma link) and not your entire blog. (Click on the time at the bottom of your post and copy the address from there.)
You can show everything that is blooming at that time, post about a specific plant that you enjoy or a garden tour you went on. You have complete control over what you post, as long as it is garden related.

Do you think you would sign up once in awhile or do you know someone that would be interested? Please, leave a comment so I can see if there is enough interest to get this started.
Happy Gardening!

Guest writer.

Hi, it's Jerzie! Do you like my hair today? This is how Mommy wears hers sometimes but hers is curly. Gramma and I had a busy day today. First we went out on the deck to blow bubbles and swing.
I really like to swing high now! I saw and heard a lot of birdies.
I have a hard time blowing hard enough to make bubbles so Gramma took me to Big Lots to find something I could work. She bought me a bubble blowing doggy but it didn't work so well. She's going to take it back tomorrow. She also got me a big Pooh ball and these bracelets. Aren't they beautiful? I can't decide which color I like bestBefore lunch we went into the back yard to dig a plant for a friend and my friend Ann's granddaughter Cloe saw me and came over to play for awhile. After lunch we went to Gramma's friends to get some plants (Like Gramma needs any more!) I saw a kitty there and a nice golden retriever gave me lots of kisses. They had a pond with some pretty orange fish and I got to feed them. I'm pretty tired from all the fun so I'm going to take a nap now.
Bye bye!
