Green Thumb Sunday

This is one of the newer cone flowers, Big Sky Sundown. I love the color! It is very short this year because my neighborhood woodchuck ate (click to see what it looked like the first of June) the new leaves and buds. I'm very glad to see a bloom at all. I took care of that guy and hopefully there aren't any more around!I think this is some kind of rudbeckia but I'm not positive. It is quite tall and has several blooms on one stem.
The large flower is a rudbeckia, Indian Summer. It is another favorite. It is a real sturdy plant. I love the large blooms. I think the orange bloom is a tickseed coreopsis. I thought it was a weed at first but I'm glad I left it for awhile. I love this combination with the daisies.
My Japanese lanterns are beginning to turn. They almost look florescent in this picture. They are great in fall arrangements.
Enjoy you walk through the gardens today. Click the + on the Green Thumb Sunday button on the sidebar to join or get links to other gardens. We had some nice rain this week so I'm going out to do some badly needed weeding and dead heading.

I love the Big Sky Sundown...what a fabulous colour. Really enjoyed you photos; I do do like daisy shaped flowers. I did grow the Lanterns myself once but it threatened to atke over my garden. They are lovely though :o)

Beautiful pictures, but those Japanese lanterns are really special. They do look sort of fall (which is quickly approaching!)

I love the japanese lanterns--so beautiful! Also, the color on the Big Sky Sundown is wonderful. I had never heard of them before but I think I will keep an eye out for them next year :)

Your coneflowers look great. You've had a lot better luck with them than I have this year..

Has Mr. Woodchuck been sending you any postcards while he's been on vacation?

Rudbeckia are great flowers and yours look lovely. I grew lots at my allotment last year and they made wonderful cut flowers because they keep so well.
