7 random things

I've been tagged by No Rain to list 7 things about myself so here goes.

1. I have severe motion sickness. I must drive everywhere I go. Most of the time medicine doesn't even help. A few years ago we went on a driving scavenger hunt. I was driving but I still got so sick the kids had to bring me home and I went straight to bed.

2. I've worked since I was very young. One of my first jobs was walking a blind man around the small town I grew up in so he could get ready for a seeing eye dog. I was paid $1. a day. I also ironed for $1. an hour as a teen.

3. I drive a bright blue PT Cruiser and I love it! It's the first car I ever really picked out. I have always had to buy a car because it was all I could get for what I could pay. The car I had before the Cruiser I bought over the phone from a dealer I trust and didn't even know what color it was. I drove it for 10 years. It still looked pretty good and ran well so I gave it to a guy I work with that had very serious health problems with one of his children. He's still driving it over 2 years later.

4. I have fibromyalgia. I take muscle relaxers at night and pain medication twice a day. I also have a massage once a month, which seems to help a lot. I don't like to complain and still do all my own gardening except for the initial sod removal and digging up large bushes.

5. I have driven a tractor, done plumbing, put in a tub surround, put up wainscoting, helped build an outdoor brick fireplace, a cement block pump house and a foundation under an existing outhouse, put up a ceiling fan, changed the spark plugs, thermostat and snow tires on my (old) cars and hung wallpaper. I've done most of these things out of need but I'm glad I tried!

6. I had stage 3 melanoma 10 years ago on my left thigh. I had a melanoma specialist who has done surgery on people from all over the world. Last year he released me after I promised to have a complete body check by a dermatologist every year. What a small price to pay! I also had a precancerous mole removed from my neck about 7 years ago.

7. I was the sole supporter of my kids from the time they were 2 and 7. I had some great "breaks" over the years from friends and acquaintances. I "pay it forward" when ever I get the chance. (hence #3)
