Good Night!

Jerzie and I went to a concert in the park last night. We had a picnic and then played on the play ground for awhile. Part of the concert focused on kids with stories read during intermission. Jerzie didn't get too involved but she did have a good time. She was fascinated with the instruments. It was a little muddy but as you can see the sun was shining and that's just what we need! Sun is forecast for several days.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!Today I'm afraid I'm not showing you any blooms but destruction. We have been having way too much rain too fast. If you'd like to see what my backyard looked like Sunday afternoon click here.
This is the oak leaf hydrangea Laurie and Chris gave me for my birthday. The water poured down this side hill like a river.

These pictures were all taken Sunday evening when most of the water had gone down.

Jerzie's pumpkin patch.

The rest were taken in my new shade garden.

This is the only empty spot but I can't remember what was planted here.

My mulch path is in a pile in the neighbors back yard. I just asked Chris to pick up a load of rough mulch for this area. I'm so glad I didn't already have it.

Luckily I had some dirt from other projects so I tried to fix the worst plants. In the process my plastic clog got buried in the mud! I had mud to my ankles. If the rain would just stop I think I'll be able to save most everything but it rained last night and today. This evening the city is on my street putting sandbags at driveways.
On the upside, I had very little water in the basement and didn't get any damage to my house. Several neighbors had to have their basements pumped out and my neighbor had a lot of damage to stuff stored in their garage
If you'd like to join our garden tour just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky and please post this address on your blog. Now I need to see some sun and blooms!

Enough already!

To say we've had too much rain is and understatement! This is what my street looked like yesterday afternoon. They say we had over an inch in a very short time.
I've lived in this house for over 25 years and have never seen anything like this. They put in new storm sewers on the hilly street my street runs off of last year. The water was coming out of them! We are thinking someone goofed.
My back yard! I took this picture from my second story deck. The shed is mine, the garage is the neighbors. There is a red wagon in front of the shed filled with plants. All you can see is the plants.
My new shade garden is under this tree.
The day lily border along the property line was like a waterfall.
The side of my house where more water was coming from.
It was not raining when I took this video. The noise is all from the running water.

Score!

I had some really good luck at a household sale the other day. I found not one but two Lu-Ray green platters in great condition! They were such a good price I had to buy both. Anyone interested in trading a green for a yellow?
My favorite find was this tree topper. I remember seeing these when I was young. She is in pretty good condition and I love her! Her face is beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by!

What were they thinking?

I heard the city told this man to paint his house and clean it up so this is what he did. Do you think it will sell?

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome! My lilies have done better than ever this year. I'm not sure if it's the weather or they just spread more. They have been blooming for a few weeks and some are still going strong
I have a couple Asiatic but most of the lily border is day lilies.
I only got a couple blooms on the red hot pokers. I like them but the don't last at all.
The Stella D'Ore are always the first to bloom and are usually the last.
Next come the yellows. They are so bright and cheery.
I have 2 different yellows.
and 2 peaches plus some of the orange wild lilies that grow all over here.
I love every ones large lily assortment but I really don't have room for more.
I also have one burgundy day lily. It is usually shorter than the others and blooms last. I love the bright yellow center.
If you would like to show us what's blooming where you are planted, whether you are growing it or someone else is, just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky. Please, remember to add a link to this post to your blog.
Happy Bloomin' Tuesday!

He's Back!! by Payton

My big sister Jerzie told me about a big white bear that lives in Gramma's upstairs. She read me a story she wrote about the time he snuck down the stairs to meet her and told me not to be afraid. She said he likes to wrestle but just for fun.I was playing on the floor the other day while Jerzie was taking her nap and I felt something touch my back.

I reached behind me, felt something soft, grabbed it and pulled!

I couldn't believe it! This must be the bear Jerzie told me about.

I was excited to meet him but he wasn't going to get the best of me like he did my sister. After getting a good look at him...

I flipped over on my back, getting a good hold on him.

He would be in for a big surprise when I showed him my leg moves!

I have experience wrestling with my sister and Daddy.

All I needed was a tight hold and a little leg action and he'd be mine!

He really didn't seem to be fighting me at all. He must have heard what a toughie I am. I can't wait to tell Sissy that I finally got to play with the white bear that lives upstairs at Grammas. I'm glad she told me about him or I might have been scared. We had a fun time wrestling.

Please, don't tell Gramma about this. I don't want him to get in trouble. We might need his help someday. You never know when you might need a friend!

Hostile takeover?

I'm not sure how hostile it is (you'd have to ask the rest of the bloom) but the black eyed Susans have certainly taken over this garden!
