It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

We've had rain and cooler weather this week so things slowed down some but I do have hope. A couple spots of Lady's Mantle have sprouted in the shade garden area.
This Lenten Rose was new last year. I don't see any buds but it does have new growth.
This one is in a different area and I've had it a few years. Two nice plump buds so far.
Several of the pink prim roses I showed last week are blooming a little. I also found this white and this dark magenta bloom.
There are a couple flowers on the variegated myrtle
and the regular myrtle. Looks like there will be a few more crocus blooming next week also. I added these pavers to make the sidewalk wider and may have lost a few bulbs.
One miniature daffodil is ready to open. I like them but wish they got a little taller.
I found a few things in my neighbors garden just across the driveway from my largest garden area. They have a nice heather plant that is blooming now. These yellow pansies have been going for a week already! Mine never seem to come back, do yours?I couldn't believe it when I saw these forget-me-nots right next to the foundation. I have them all over but none even close to blooming.
That's what's going on in Western New York. I can't wait to see what's bloomin' where you are. To join the fun just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky and add a link to this post on yours. For information and choice of buttons, click on the button on my side bar. Thanks for stopping by!

Food for Thought

With time, women gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.

Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, Good grief, look how smart I am!

Must be where 'Smart Ass' came from!

Spring Window Box

The last bit of winter I got rid of is my window box. I usually decorate it for a season and not just a holiday.Eggs and birds mean spring to me, plus pussy willow and forsythia. I found the cement urn with the bird on the top at TJMaxx and had to have it!
Now all I need to do is get the gardens cleaned up.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday! Everyone is welcome to show us their blooms. I hope to see more blooms than what I have. There are nice fat buds on some of my miniature daffodils

and leaves getting ready to open on the peony tree.

Looks like the iris are coming on strong

along with the day lilies.

These daffodils show lots of green and I'm hoping for more blooms than last year.

It's cool and rainy today so everything came to a stand still. Only one primrose is showing off today, hopefully more will be blooming next week.

I know that some of you are right in the middle of spring so I'm counting on you! If you want to show us what's bloomin' where you are planted just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky. Don't forget to add a link to this post and tell all your bloggy friends to join the tour. For details and a choice of 4 buttons click the Bloomin' Tuesday button on my sidebar. Now sit back and enjoy the tour!

New Favorite

I haven't been able to get out in our beautiful sunny weather because of my eye infection. Today it is a little cloudy so I went out early wearing sun glasses and a ball cap. It felt so good to dig in the dirt again! I wish I could spend the whole day in the gardens but I have to work later. While working today I got to use a new, old shovel I bought at a sale. It has a nice long handle but the shovel is much smaller than a regular one. I'm sure I only paid a couple dollars for it but to me it's worth much more. It's perfect for digging out small plants or large weeds. I usually use my hand spade for those jobs but sometimes it's rough on the wrist.
You can see here it's about the size of a childs shovel. I don't know if they are making anything like it now or not but if you see one at a sale, grab it! I'm sure you'll love it like I do!

Playin' in the dirt!

Jerzie and I decided to play in the dirt while Payton was napping this morning. We brought the dirt and our garden tools into the basement and did some planting. We planted 2 kinds of sunflowers, cosmos, morning glories and a sensitive plant that Jerzie got in a movie. Now comes the fun of watching them grow! We still need to get some pumpkin seeds to try again this year. The kids came over for game day yesterday. We didn't play too many games but it's always good to get together. These last 2 shots are the essence of Payton.

Get out!

I got rid of the last of my snowmen that were still in my entry and brought in a little spring. I decided to use my pomanders since I found the bird shaped one. They are all flowers and butterflies and very springy. A vase of pussy willows and forsythia (my spring standby) and some cute birdies.
Jerzie and I made this tree with some things Aunt Laurie gave us for crafts. I had the small pail so just added some weight in the bottom and some floral foam. I spray painted the branches.
We actually hung these cuties with some earring wires I had in my stash. Don't you love the kitty hanging on the branch?
Except for my yard still being about 2/3rds covered with snow, I made winter get out!

Anticipation!

I told some of you that I would be excited to see some grass on my property. I'm officially excited!!!As you can see, we still have a lot of snow and I still don't have any garden areas peeking out but I'm very hopeful. Our temps will be in the 50s this week and after today we are expecting rain. That should move things along.
If this keeps up Bloomin' Tuesday could be happening very soon, so keep watching! As soon as I see my first bud I'll let you know!
