The Remote

I know that a lot of families go crazy over the remote but since I live alone that is not a problem for me anymore. You can be sure that I had my problems when my son was home. He had a habit of putting it in his back pocket and left the house with it once! Usually it ended up in the corner of the sofa behind the pillows.
I always know where the remote is because I put it in the TV cabinet and close the cabinet. The only problem I have is when I'm in my chair watching TV. The remote is usually in my lap or beside me in the chair. Every now and then the channel will change and I figure I've accidentally pushed a button.
This happened the other night and as I searched for the remote I realized that it was setting on the table. I picked it up and put it back on the channel I was watching. Next thing I knew, the channel guide was on the TV and the channel was constantly changing. I tried to go back to my channel but every time I did it changed again!
Was I losing my mind (or more of it than I've already lost!)? Was there a spook in my house I hadn't discovered after all these years? The kids swear they still hear our dog, Ginger, whining, maybe she is getting me back for putting her out of her misery. Luckily, for my sanity, I remembered that Chris and Laurie had this same problem a few years ago. I called Dish in the morning and it seems someone in my neighborhood had Dish and our remotes were running off the same channel. When I switched my TV I was changing their channel and vice versa. I wonder if they're afraid they are losing their mind!
Keep this in mind if you have satellite TV and you channel starts changing on it's own, it may not be your family trying to drive you crazy, it may be your neighbors! Better yet, do you have a neighbor you'd like to drive crazy?

Update: Just wanted to let you know, Jerzie ended up in the emergency room yesterday. She was still vomiting and had a temp of 103. They gave her some meds, an IV and took lots of tests. She has a severe case of the flu. She is starting to eat and the Dr. said she is on the mend when she went today.

I'm too far out in the country and in the middle of 9 acres or woods to be bothered by "remote-itis"... whew! I'm so sorry to hear that Jerzie is still under the weather,... hope she's smiling soon!

We don't even have a dish - just cable, and our goofy remote tries testing our sanity, too...hmm, maybe a neighbor has it out for us via cable!!

Sorry Jersey is so sick with the flu...there have sure been a bunch of little ones getting really sick with this stuff. Hope she feels better soon.

We have Israelite as do most of our neighbors. I've never had that problem, but it's good to be aware it can happen!
So sorry to hear about little Jerzie's trip to the ER. There's so much of the flu going around.
Hope she feels much better soon.

I hope Jerzie continues to feel better. Getting that IV with meds makes all the difference. I was in the ER earlier this year with the same problem. Once I got the IV and the meds I was a different person!

On to the remote. Wow! That must have really seemed strange! Pretty comical once you find out what it is.

Oh poor Jerzie - my thoughts are with her -

Funny thing about the remote - since I don't have satellite - I never knew that could happen! Glad you figured it out. Oh, by the way- we still hear Bons meowing and it's been months after we had to put her down :-(
