Snickerdoodle!

All I need to do is hear that word or have it pop into my head and nothing will do until I have some! There is no other cookie that will kill my craving. Not even the store bought Snickerdoodles will do it. One of my customers knows I love them so she makes them for my birthday and Christmas. Snickerdoodles have a taste all their own, The only different ingredient is Cream of Tartar so that must be what makes them taste so different.
Jerzie seemed to enjoy them too. First she got some dough with a small spatula and then with the measuring spoon.
She helped when I was rolling them into balls by getting some on the spatula for me to add to the balls. It's a snowy day today in Western New York and a perfect day to make Snickerdoodles!
Snickerdoodles
1 cup soft shortening, half butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix together. Roll into walnut size balls. Roll balls in mixture 2 Tblsp. sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Put 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 min. at 400 degrees. Makes about 6 dozen.
I think this recipe is also in every Betty Crocker Cook Book!

Ummmm - they look delicious. What a good way to spend a snowy day. I hope the snow disappears before the REAL Stuff comes down!
I'd love to have the recipe. I've only ever heard of snickerdoodles when my daughter purchased some at a specialty bakery that were gluten-free. I thought it was just a specialty item. It's nice to learn things via bloggerville!

Thanks for posting the recipe. I will try it soon! Funny, I never came across it in a cookbook. Or maybe I did and just forget. LOL.
