Show and Tell

This Gospel Primer was in some family stuff but there is no name in it. It was copyrighted in 1894 and is the eighth edition. My Grandma was born in 1900 so it must have come from her or Grandpa's family.

The first page talks about learning to read by the "Word Method". Each letter has a "slate exercise" of words. I love all the graphics.

It's not hard to come up with words for the "hard letters" in the Bible!

The next part of the book has larger drawings and is all Bible stories.

To see more Show and Tell posts go on over to Kelli's House.

Wow - this is a real treasure! The illustrations are all too cool. How did they do that way back when, I can hardly do it now.

Loved peeking over your shoulder!

What a wonderful family heirloom you have in this book! It looks to be in very good shape, considering its age. I have my mom's little school bible from the 1930's and I treasure that:-) xoxo

What a nice primer! Can you imagine
the work it took to put the small
pictures with large letters into
the typesetter? Wonderful heirloom!
