It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday! Check out the new button! The one on the side bar is a blinkie! Feel free to use what button or buttons you like. (Thanks, Chris! my button maker) I have something to show you that I'm really excited about this week!
Last year when Laurie and I went on our "nursery road trip" I found some hollyhocks in some very small pots on a clearance table for 1 dollar each. I didn't really look closely at them but I think I bought 3 pots. I stuck them between my shed and the neighbors garage knowing that I wouldn't see any flowers until this year.

I cannot believe how beautiful these blooms are. If you are into traditional hollyhocks you will probably not like these. I expected traditional but these blooms are so beautiful I love them anyway.

These remind me of carnations they are so full.

I think this color is my favorite. I'm just hoping now that they will continue to come up. The only tag I found says they are Alcea rosea "chater's double pink".

The redhot poker lilies are in bloom. They don't really look good for very long.

The wild daylilies are usually the first to bloom.

Jerzie gave me this lily for Mother's Day last year. (Mommy and Daddy were out of town so Aunt Laurie helped with this)

These 2 daylilies are also blooming.

What's bloomin' where you are planted? Sign Mr Linky and join our garden tour! Please post a link back to the list.
Now sit back and enjoy the tour!

Your hollyhocks are beautiful. I haven't seen a hollyhock since I was a child--my grandmother had such pretty ones. Thanks for the memory. My day lilies are a late-blooming variety and I should have some pictures in the next couple of weeks. Love yours!

I love your Hollyhocks. I live in So California and I cannot find them any where, even the seeds! I finally found a company online and I ordered some for next season. This is my first Blooming Tuesday.

I've never thought about growing hollyhocks in container! At our Ag Extension Office, they have hundreds of hollyhocks growing there and offer packets of seeds. I don't have anywhere in my garden to plant them, but now, I may just plant a few containers next year.

Jean your hollyhocks and daylillies are fantastic. Great Bloomin Tuesday post this week. I didn't post this week because I posted for Garden Blogger's Bloom Day which is the 15th of each month.

Oh the Hollyhocks are gorgeous! I don't recall ever seeing that type of flower before but I probably did growing up in SD- they are absoloutely lovely- if they were in my yard I would get nothing done but sitting in the garden watching them bloom!
thanks for sharing!

Hi Jean ~ I think your hollyhocks are gorgeous!! By the way, have you ever heard the story that back in the olden days ladies would look for where the hollyhocks were blooming knowing that they usually were planted by the outhouses? That way, they never had to embarrass themselves by asking. How interesting!

My post is up, although a little late. Thanks again for pictures of your beautiful flowers.

Don't you love it when a bargain turns out to be an even bigger bargain that you thought? Those double hollyhocks are all gorgeous.

Hollyhocks are some of the old-fashioned flowers I've always wanted to try to grow, but haven't yet. Yours are beautiful.

Guess I did something wrong again, cause I don't think I got my Bloomin'Tuesday thing on this time, though I thought I had.

Have a great week.
