Reunion.

A while ago I posted that my 40th high school reunion was coming up. We had it this past weekend.I came from a small town and there were 57 in our graduating class. There were pictures from kindergarten and all but about 10 from the 2 kindergarten classes graduated together. I think that was rare even back then and I'm sure is unheard of now.
The cake was really cool! All of our senior yearbook pictures were on it. The bear was our team name and blue and gold were out colors.
Eight of our classmates have passed away and 25 classmates came either 1 or both nights. Seems funny but several of the ones who still live in the area didn't come. Even 2 of our teachers came. I stated in the other post that there were no "class" divisions but was surprised to hear from one teacher that our class was unique that way. He went on to teach a special class (at another school) for kids that were slipping thru the cracks. He told about going to houses to find out living conditions, bailing kids out of jail, and getting them up in the morning so they could get to school. He went on to tell us that our class taught him about unconditional love and "family". I'm sure we were close like family because we had been together for so many years. I don't know exactly why we were unique in that way but I'm glad I was a part of it. I'm sure it had to do with old fashion family values which most of us learned at home. He even remarked on kids having to be home for supper at a certain time, no matter what!
We were a pretty unruly bunch way back then and I guess we still are by the looks of this group picture! All and all we had a great time of reconnecting with some old friends who made up a large part of our lives. I very glad I went and look forward to 10 years from now when we meet again.

How wonderful that you were able to go to your reunion...it must be so much fun to see classmates again after all these years. I graduated in 1975 and I know there have been one or two reunions but I missed them...I would love to go to one! xox

I graduated in 67 also. Our reunion will be in October, but I will have to miss this one due to a friend's wedding. It sounds like you had a very special class. I loved the pictures on the cake. I felt like I was looking at my school annual. LOL

What a great idea for the cake! I do a lot of class reunions at work and I have never seen a cake with all the pics on it.

All of my class reunion organizers at the hotel say that the people who live in town are the people who do not attend. I guess it's the same all over the country.

So glad you had such a wonderful time.
