To the Point!

My girlfriend takes me out to lunch every year for my birthday. Today was the day. We decided to go to the Point. That's Bemus Point, a small village on the lake about 20 minutes from town. It was a perfect day for it. It was sunny and in the low 70's with a nice breeze. This is the view from our parking place. We parked right next to the ferry landing. We have a ferry that takes you to the other side of the lake. It only runs on weekends now, but used to run all week. Everyone is in too much of a hurry now days to take the ferry.
This is where we ate.It was so beautiful we decided to eat outside right on the lake.
The boat in this picture is the Summer Wind. They cruise the lake and offer just rides, dinner rides and even trips to Chautauqua for a dinner and concert ride. Several boats docked while we were eating and the people got off the boat and came in for lunch. We even saw a waitress deliver drinks to a boat. I had a wonderful Hawaiian salad. It had fresh pineapple and strawberries, roasted coconut, chicken, lemon noddles with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Wonderful!
This is the Hotel Lenhart. It has been open for 127 years. There is no air conditioning, TV, phones or computer hook up.
It is know for the colored rocking chairs on the porch.
This is an antique shop we checked out.
This is the Gypsy Moon clothing consignment shop. What a fun place! All kinds of hats, purses and jewelry. The clothes were off beat with lots of sparkle.
Besides a couple regular gift shops we went to the Musky Mall!
There are just 3 little shops and a larger coffee, desert and antique shop. These are by far the best shops in town.
I loved this sculpture of the kids on the bike. This is inside one of the shops.
Next we went and got a rainbow sherbet cone and sat in the chairs at the Lenhart.
That was our trip to the Point!

That looks like so much fun... just ambling here and there, a bit of lunch, a little people watching, nice weather, a lakeside breeze, independent shops shopping... This is about as good as a Birthday gets. Happy, Happy Birthday to you.

But there aren't any photos of you and your friend! My dd's and I love holding the camera out at arm's length facing us and snapping self-portraits. You should try it. :-)
Your day sounded perfect!
