Pie Safe

I found this old tin pie safe at a barn sale. It was spray painted avacado green. (Sorry, I forgot to take a before picture). I used spray Zip Strip to remove the green paint. I wanted to keep some of the underneath cream and light beige color.Getting rid of some of the piant really brought out the detail in the tin work.
There was only one tin shelf inside but that was okay with me. I had to cut it down slightly to fit it under my kitchen counter but the detail was all on the door so it didn't hurt the look. It makes a great bread box.
I like the rustic look and it fills this deep corner on my counter very well. A great buy for 20 dollars!

As I have read your last few blogs about great finds, I keep meaning to ask if you have been to a particular flea market. I'll ask today :-) Have you been to the Hazen flea market in PA? I went a couple years ago; it's a BIG flea market. http://www.hazenfleamarket.com/

Thats a great find. I used to have a corner like that. I keep all my bread in the fridge now because it goes bad quickly when there are only one or two people eating.

Oh I just adore antiques! That pie safe is wonderful. Where do you get zip strip, and does it work on wood?

I love the pie safe and where you have put it. Old things are just so neat. You gave it a nice fresh look with the paint.
