Show and Tell

I've been looking for a couple years for something to replace this cabinet on my deck. I've never run across anything in the price range I was willing to spend (very cheap!) I like to keep my dishes I use outside handy. My deck is off my kitchen and because my house is built on a hill it is on the second floor. There is no access from outside and it has a full roof over it so it's really an extension of my house.
I was trying to think if anything in my upstairs would work at least temporarily and I thought about this dresser. I don't know why I didn't think of this before but it was used in my son's bedroom and was like a built in under the roof line in his attic like room. The whole wall was filled with cupboards, drawers and this dresser.
I know the color is terrible but it did look good when you saw the whole picture!
I love the chippy look and the detail in this chest. I took out the drawers and dragged it down the stairs and started working. I sanded it and put on 2 coats of primer .
Then I painted it and sanded it some more. I might change the knobs if I see something I like but for now I just put some flower stickers on them. I like the little bit of blue showing thru.
It's certainly much better than the other one and it didn't cost me a thing! Everything I used was stuff that I had.

If you enjoy taking or seeing garden pictures check out "Bloomin Tuesday". The fun will start this coming Tuesday.

If you'd like to join Show and Tell Friday or see the list of posts for this week run over to Kelli's House.

Amazing....just think of the stories those pieces could tell us. I really like the ceramic handles on the chest. AND the 'embossed' or should I say imprinted design on the drawers.

Great Show N Tell

Wow what a find. That looks so nice instead of the other one. Great job reusing it and retoring it. You are a true recycler. My mom always said use what you have and you did just that.

That looks nice. What a great idea. You will be able to store quite a bit of outdoor items.

You are so clever at recycling!

It really has some character! I think I might be tempted to put a bit of color in those little carved patterns.

All of the decorating shows will tell you to look around your house and move your stuff around. Sometimes we lock in something because it's always been a certain way. Congrats on thinking outside of the box! It turned out great!
