I am counting on the fact that you are all my friends and will not judge me. I went upstairs to put some winter clothes away and this is what I found in my bathroom linen closet!"Someone" has certainly left a mess! These drawers hold my seasonal turtlenecks, t-shirts, capris etc.
Obviously the 3 large drawers aren't doing their job since this pile of stuff is on the sink! The good news is I started working on it today. The bad news is I only got the top done.
I found these 3 afghans in the top and guess what? They went right back in there. It's not that I think I'll ever use these colors again but my Grandma made the blue one and the brown and cream one. The middle one was my only attempt at knitting. I just can't seem to part with these although I'm sure I could get rid of mine.
I bought the yarn for Gram to make the brown one. She had a trademark with her afghans. She always stuck some color in that wasn't quite right. I thought I was safe by getting the yarn myself....
...but I was wrong! See the edging on this afghan? How it doesn't quite go with the other colors? There you have it! Grandma's trademark!
I can't believe how much room I have now that it is organized. I even found some things to show you that I forgot I had.
This last picture is my beautiful walls in my upstairs unused bathroom. Could it get any uglier? It is a large room with built in tub/shower and 2 full size windows and the dreaded linen closet. It's in good shape and I never had the cash to change it. I used navy blue to try to tone it down a little. The ceiling had white plastic tile.I'm guessing 50'2 style. I did change the wallpaper in the room before this one. It was an overall floral in these same colors. I guess they were trying to prepare you for what was to come.
Now I'm going to challenge you! Do you have a messy, ugly place in your home that you don't want anyone to see? Make me feel better by letting me know that you are not judging me by showing me your ugly secrets. If you get brave, just leave me a comment so I can check it out. It will be just our little secret!

I think that Holiday Jenny would like your bathroom colors.

Not showing my mess...
I confess that I have a linen closet that looks similar.
Old houses have very little storage space...and end up looking disheveled when putting too much in the spaces.
Jean,
How did you take a picture of my closet? lol It doesn't look bad really. I know where everything is!
Yours is so nice and organized now. You have inspired me to clean out mine! :)
Gina
Jean, I think you should embrace that 1950's pink and aqua. It's a hot decorating style right now. A nice framed poodle skirt would be great on the wall!
I bet you felt so good getting your closet organized.
I'd love to show you a messy place in my home...........but I don't have one. :) If you believe that, I've got some some lakefront property in the desert to sell you.
I have a huge closet in my hallway that, at one time, was very organized and beautiful. Well, that was a lo-o-o-n-n-g-g time ago! I have been thinking about how I need to clean it up and get it in shape again, but just couldn't seem to find the "umph" to get to it. You've inspired me, though, and I just may take a stab at it! Thanks.
O, and BTW, I love the bathroom colors and think you should play it up. Those colors are very trendy right now. And I know if you can take an old dilapidated window and turn it into something beautiful and wonderful, you can do the same with that bathroom color scheme.
Have a great week.

Oh, Jean!
I have several areas of my house that are a lot more disorganized than yours!
In fact, I may be the Queen of Clutter!
Junie
Ha! I would not judge you because I too have a lot to do as far as spring-cleaning goes these days.
Your closet looks great now.
I just dropped by to say hello
and to let you know there is a
little contest going on at My Serentity Garden
If you’d like to join in.

I have a couple of closets who could give you some major competition as far as clutter goes. We won't even talk about the storage sheds!
Your linen closet looks great now!

You know, you have been so sweet and open and sharing with your life and your closet. I feel that I should share my garage with you, to be as equally open. BUT I'M NOT GONNA AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!!!!!
You brave woman! And you are right, consider yourself UN judged by me.
Jennifer
Jean,
I think you could really work with that pink, taupe and aqua combination in your bath. I have an aqua tub surround in our master bath and since it isn't going anywhere soon, I decided to work with it. I was delighted to find matching towels and rugs at my local Target store.
The walls and ceiling are painted white and I strategically sanded the old white-painted cabinets and it now looks sort of shabby-chic. I actually kind of like it now.
