Show and Tell

I got this piece that says family when we went shopping in Erie in January. I love it but wasn't happy with it any where I put it. When I went to Buffalo this week I found this at AC Moore for about 22 dollars. Not a bad price and with a little work I knew I'd love it.

First I painted it a couple coats of off white.

Then I took my hand sander to it and roughed up the edges a little.
Put some water based stain over the whole piece and rubbed it off.Now I love it!
Just what I had in mind.
I love the dental molding and all the detail. What do you think?

First....your link you left at Kelli's Show N Tell mr linky is for last weeks.

And then....the whole concept of this idea --from the word family to what you did to make it fit perfectly with your room is outstanding. I love this idea.

My Show N Tell is shared, if you haven't already, please stop by for a visit.

I think you did a lovely job. The color contrast really sets both items off.

You did a great job! It looks wonderful. I have seen little piece, or ones like it, but I have never gotten any for the same reason -- no good place to put them.

BTW, your link from Kelli's goes to last week's Show and Tell.

It's great, Jean! I hardly ever think to put stuff on the walls, and now you've got me thinking about a display shelf like yours :)

I think you did a great job! Sometimes I have found something but have had to hang on to it until I could display it "just right". Looks great!

That looks perfect! I love word plaques. I have one in my kitchen that says--approiately enough--"It's All Good! Have a great weekend.

I love the shelf and the Family sign. I've seen those cutout signs and have been tempted to buy one several times, but haven't yet. I like your header. I have a small snowman collection. Love your snowman curser too.
