It all started with this funeral fan. When I saw this fan at an antique store it immediately set off a memory. As a child I had a block puzzle and this was one of the pictures. Of course, I needed to find that puzzle!
I searched e-bay for months looking for a religious block puzzle. I searched antique stores and set myself a limit of $50.00 if I ever found one.
I eventually saw this box on e-bay. No puzzle shown, just this box. Our puzzle had a plain dark green box. Isn't it amazing the detail our brain comes up with from just a little memory? It was listed as a slightly damaged block puzzle and the beginning bid was five dollars. I didn't think it was the puzzle I was looking for but for 5 bucks I'd check it out. I won the bid and when I recieved it I was excited to discover it was my puzzle!
The only damage was that a couple pieces of paper had come off of the blocks.
And they were in the box! When I showed it to my brother his first remark was, "Ours was in a green box!"
He had also forgotten all about this puzzle until he saw it.
It was really fun to have something to search for and I'm very glad I found it and for only 5 bucks!

Oh wow....the Garden at Gethsemane is my all time favorite religious painting. Great show n tell!!!!
Five bucks?
Good deal, Jean.
What a special treasure! Now you have me wishing I could find such a puzzle.
Oh how special is that!?!
Thank you so much for sharing. It reminds me of so many of my sunday school lesson and the big poster pictures of these painting on the walls of our sunday school room in the 1960's.

How neat! I am so glad you found it -- and for only $5 -- that's wonderful!
This is so neat!!! Yes, funny how we can remember those little details from so long ago.

Oh, my, now *I* want a religious puzzle block set! I suspect there may be a run on them on Ebay;-)
oh, I remember theose block puzzles, every side put together a different picture. I had forgotten about those!
That is so great that you found the puzzle you were looking for. It really is in great shape...
What a neat story--so nice to have something with so many memories--it brings a joy to our hearts!

What a great show & tell. I love that it was just like your puzzle. ;-)
I just love this show and tell. Your comments about the details that we actually remember when we are jogged like that! (The Green box.) It is prety amazing. I saw a chair recently, a tiny child's chair from about 50 years ago. Suddenly I pictured a kind of 'decal' that was on my own little chairs those long years ago. Out of the blue. It is just fun when it happens.
Thank you for sharing.

I like those puzzles...the paintings are great.
What a great show and tell, the puzzles are gorgeous what a treasure to evoke childhood memories - despite the lack of a green box, lol!
