It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!I finally had a couple blooms to show this week but......this is what we woke up to this morning!
I'm sure these would have bloomed today if the temp had gotten out of the 30s.
I did get to see this one lonely bloom yesterday. It came up alone on the opposite side of the house from the ones I have planted.
These poor miniature daffodils I planted last year are so close to the ground they were covered.

It's supposed to be back in the 50s tomorrow so maybe I'll have something next week!
Thanks for stopping by! Sign up and show us what's bloomin' where you are planted this spring. Just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky and put a link to this post on your post. I can't wait to see what spring is like where you are!

Spring Planting

First we reread our book about planting. We got out our tools and garden gloves.
Put dirt from the pail into the pots
Jerzie said this was hard work.
She put a seed in each pot. The ones with the orange spot are hers.
More dirt on top.
Just a little on each one.
Sorry for the glare. Her pots have 'Kid Stuff" sunflower seeds. They only grow about 32 inches tall.
Water each pot with her watering can.
Watching them grow!
She will become a gardener!
Go here to see her fishing with Daddy.

Show and Tell

When I was cleaning out my storage room I found this mosaic I made in high school back in the late 60s. I made it in a basic art class where we tried all kinds of different mediums.
I never made another one but have enjoyed seeing all the items that are being made as mosaics today and may give it another try. I love the items made from pieces of china.
I'm not sure why I still have it but I guess I'll put it back where I found if for now.

Light 'n up!

When I redid my living and dining rooms several years ago I sold the old metal ceiling lights to an antique dealer. I removed the one in my entry too because it matched the others. Since then I have had this generic light. I've always had my eye out for something better and I found it at a liquidation store on Tuesday. This beautiful pendant stained glass fixture just jumped right out at me.
I couldn't wait to get home and put it up! I have no patience when I get something new. I didn't have supper until 7 o'clock because I had to hang the light first.
The hardest part was finding the right color paint in my unmarked paint stash. (Note to self: Mark what room you used the paint in before storing it!)
The other light was much larger and the room had been painted since I bought it.
I absolutely love this light! It is perfect in every way. The color is perfect, I could hang it at the right level so the door didn't hit it, the size is just right for this small area and the brown finish matches my other fixtures. On top of all that it was less than $30.!

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome!
I don't have anything blooming yet but at least I can see some green in the gardens. I have cleaned up about half of the garden areas. We have had lots of sunshine but the temps are still low even during the day. So here are my spots of green (or growth) this week.
This bright red growth is the yellow loosestrife just beginning to come up.
Bachelor buttons, fuzzy, bluish green leaves.
Bright green iris, standing at attention.
The lacy, yellow green feverfew.
Money plant will have flowers soon that look like white phlox.
Very invasive ground cover, sedum. Now's a great time to get rid of some.
Beautiful burgundy leaves of the yellow evening primroses. They turn this color in the fall.
A good clump of daffodils.
Leaf buds on my peony tree. It didn't bloom last year so I'm hoping for a bloom or two this year.
Tulip leaves with a hint of red.
Miniature daffodils with some nice plump buds.
I am excited to see what is really bloomin' in your garden already this spring. Just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky and add a link to this post on your blog. Happy Spring!

Photo Challenge!

Since Jerzie isn't with me today (I have a major dental appointment) I decided this was a good day to try something new. I've been thinking about entering one of my pictures of Jerzie in this photo challenge at iHeartFaces for awhile. It just happened that the category today was 'no flash' and I had taken outside pics last week. The winner is picked by a Guest Photographer Judge. Here is my entry.

I picked this picture because I love the look on her face as she studies the milkweed seeds. You can tell by her furrowed brow that she finds it very interesting. There is a contest every week for a picture of an adult, a child and sometimes a pet. Why don't you visit here and give it a try!

Cute Score!

I took a fast trip to a sale the other day and this is what I found. Aren't they adorable? They are Napco, dated 1958. They are actually bells but I prefer them standing rather than hanging.
I just love the expressions on their faces.
There was no box and one is missing a wing but that's fine with me. I love them just the same.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Our weather has been perfect! It's been sunny and in the 50's for a few days and to me that's perfect weather to work outside. I've been cutting back and raking and even tho I haven't seen too many more spring sights, I have smelled some.
While raking the large side garden I couldn't miss the wonderful scent of bee balm.I had to cut back my 2 lavender plants and the fragrance just filled the air. Lovely!
I also had to pick gravel from the path gardens and just slightly touching the thyme plants sends up my all 'thyme' favorite scent!
I think I may smell some fresh spring rain tonight. I have new garden plans and get so excited this time of year. It is only March tho and I have to be careful not to do too much too early. The anticipation is killing me!
What 'springscents' inspire you?

Bliss!

A Really Good Day!

Not only was it a beautiful day yesterday (today is too!) but I got to play outside in the garden for a couple hours. I cut down 2 wheelbarrow loads of stuff that I didn't get done before the snow came. Lots more to go but I like having things to do outside in the spring.
Can't get any better than that, right? Wrong! I also had my 2 sweeties overnight! I wouldn't usually have the baby so young but Tabatha's brother-in-law was called back up in the Army and has to go back to Iraq at the end of the month. His friends and family had a party for him and T and K had to go.
Jerzie and her baby slept in the living room and
Payton and I slept next door in my room.
Now that's a great day and night!

Show and Tell

Someone commented on this vase in another post so I decided to do a little research. I just remember it always being there and I have no idea where my Mom got it.
I found out that this is a McCoy vase from their Rustic Line made in 1945. I really like the soft color combination. The ones I found on line all looked a little different. One was all the turquoise color and wasn't anywhere near as attractive as this one, in my opinion.
There is no marking on the bottom of this vase so it doesn't always help to know marks when looking for pottery.
The value on this is 35 to 45 dollars but if you like it there is one on Ebay starting at $9.99. I love this piece and I 'm glad to be able to add it to my decor instead of hiding it in the cupboard.

Fiesta!

When I took down my snowmen I decided to decorate with my Fiestaware . I needed a change from dull dark winter and the colors are so bright and springy.I love the vintage yellows and greens. The newer persimmon bowl is a shade of my wall color.
Add some utensils with green handles and some prim fruit and you have a cute little vignette.
I just had to have this prim fruit. The bowl could hold a couple more, don't you think?
More decorating with my stash!

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome to Bloomin' Tuesday!
We've had warmer temps and lots of rain this week but the only green I could find today was this moss so I had to get into the archives. I love moss and ground covers growing on stones and wood so that is what I'm showing you today.
Creeping Thyme
I'm not sure what this is called but I like the bright green color.

Monkey Business!

I'm very happy to have Jerzie here for the day! She is back to her old self for the first time since she was sick so we had some craftin' fun.I had picked up a few cheap and easy crafts at AC Moore awhile ago. Today we decided to make a monkey.
Jerzie loved the wiggly eyes and the bananas.
Showing off her cute monkey!
She named him George!
Won't be long before I'll have 2 little crafters!

Thriftin'!

I found this really cool thrift shop today. They had drawers full of little country accents...hankies, and some of the architectural things I love.
There were cupboards with pictures, dishes and all sorts of decorative shelves.
Just look at all the candle holders. You could find something for almost every decor, except modern.
Even a spot for canning jars, coffee pots and baskets.
Look at this cute assortment of small chairs, bird houses and large candle holders.
There is only one problem with this cool store. I already own everything they have! How can that be? I've been going to organize my messy store room forever. This was my son's bedroom and it had this great cupboard in it. The only problem was, it still had lots of his stuff. I packed his junk up and put it all in the closet. I knew these cupboards would work great for storing all my goodies. At least now I'll only have one area to look in.
I still have all my seasonal stuff, except Christmas, in the basement but I'm not sure if I'll move it up here or not. I'll decide when I use it.
Would you like to come shopping in my thrift shop?
Sorry, I can't part with this stuff. There are a couple boxes of things I can get rid of though!

Show and Tell

A couple weeks ago I showed you a make over in my side entry. There were a couple things that I wasn't happy with so I had to make some more changes.I didn't like the crate but I couldn't find what I wanted that would fit. I had an old TV stand that was in pieces so I got out my circular saw and started cutting. Then I got some black paint and this is what I came up with. I like it much better and since it didn't cost anything I won't mind getting rid of it when I find that perfect piece.
I also changed to this box in place of the "scoop" with the light. I like this much better. I just wish the cord didn't show so much. I love the lights but the battery ones don't last at all.
I wasn't really looking for something for this space but I thought this would be perfect and it was. I just added some
Sweet Annie and a spray of berries. Now I'm satisfied with this room.
Thanks for stopping by. For more show and tell posts go visit Kelli's House.

I Believe....

A Birth Certificate shows we were born
A Death Certificate shows we died
Pictures show we lived!

I Believe...Just because two people argue,
Doesn't mean they don't love each other.
And just because they don't argue,
Doesn't mean they do love each other.
I Believe...
We don't have to change friends if
We understand friends change.
I Believe....
No matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt
You every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I Believe...
True friendship continues to grow, even over
The longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I Believe...
You can do something in an instant
That will give you heartache for life.
I Believe...
it's taking me a long time
To become the person I want to be.
I Believe...
You should always leave loved ones with
Loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I Believe...
You can keep going long after you think you can't.
I Believe...
We are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I Believe...
Either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I Believe...
Heroes are the people who do what has to be done
When it needs to be done, regardless of consequences.
I Believe...
Money is a lousy way of keeping score.
I Believe...
My best friend and I can do anything or nothing
And have the best time.
I Believe...
Sometimes the people you expect to kick you
When you're down will be the ones to help you get back up.
I Believe...
Sometimes when I'm angry, I have the right to be angry,
But that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I Believe...
Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had
And what you've e learned from them, and less to do
With how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I Believe...
It isn't always enough to be forgiven by others;
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself..
I Believe...
No matter how bad your heart is broken,
The world doesn't stop for your grief.
I Believe...
Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,
But we are responsible for whom we become.
I Believe...
You shouldn't be so eager to find
Out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I Believe...
Two people can look at the exact same
Thing and see something totally different..
I Believe...
Your life can be changed in a matter of
Hours by people who don't even know you.
I Believe...
Even when you think you have no more to give, when
A friend cries out to you - you will find the strength to help.
I Believe...
Credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.
I Believe...
The people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.
I Believe...
'The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of anything

The Remote

I know that a lot of families go crazy over the remote but since I live alone that is not a problem for me anymore. You can be sure that I had my problems when my son was home. He had a habit of putting it in his back pocket and left the house with it once! Usually it ended up in the corner of the sofa behind the pillows.
I always know where the remote is because I put it in the TV cabinet and close the cabinet. The only problem I have is when I'm in my chair watching TV. The remote is usually in my lap or beside me in the chair. Every now and then the channel will change and I figure I've accidentally pushed a button.
This happened the other night and as I searched for the remote I realized that it was setting on the table. I picked it up and put it back on the channel I was watching. Next thing I knew, the channel guide was on the TV and the channel was constantly changing. I tried to go back to my channel but every time I did it changed again!
Was I losing my mind (or more of it than I've already lost!)? Was there a spook in my house I hadn't discovered after all these years? The kids swear they still hear our dog, Ginger, whining, maybe she is getting me back for putting her out of her misery. Luckily, for my sanity, I remembered that Chris and Laurie had this same problem a few years ago. I called Dish in the morning and it seems someone in my neighborhood had Dish and our remotes were running off the same channel. When I switched my TV I was changing their channel and vice versa. I wonder if they're afraid they are losing their mind!
Keep this in mind if you have satellite TV and you channel starts changing on it's own, it may not be your family trying to drive you crazy, it may be your neighbors! Better yet, do you have a neighbor you'd like to drive crazy?

Update: Just wanted to let you know, Jerzie ended up in the emergency room yesterday. She was still vomiting and had a temp of 103. They gave her some meds, an IV and took lots of tests. She has a severe case of the flu. She is starting to eat and the Dr. said she is on the mend when she went today.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

Welcome! This post is not actually about blooms but the anticipation of blooms. Most of our snow has melted but it's very cold with snow flurries. I ran out with my camera and just look what I found.
It looks like the daffodils I planted in front of my day lilies are coming up. I'm really excited to see a row of daffodils!
I also saw signs of my double hollyhocks coming up.
Two of my new hydrangea have some green on them. It's always good in spring to check on the newest plants. You never know what will make it and what won't.
I didn't see anything on the 'limelight' yet but it's early. At least I know I'll have these two.
I love the spring and I'm excited to see the signs of spring in your gardens.
What anticipated blooms do you see?
If you'd like to show us your garden or indoor plants just add your name and permalink to Mr Linky and add a link on your blog to this post.
Happy Bloomin' Tuesday!

Who's who?

We didn't have Jerzie day today because poor Jerzie has the intestinal flu. She was sick all night and still sick and tired today just like Mommy and Daddy. Kim gets 2 paid weeks off work for maternity leave and it's a good thing there are two of them to handle the girls. I thought I'd let you see if you think Jerzie and Payton look alike. I had Laurie take this picture with my camera so we would remember how dark Payton's hair is. Hers is thin on top and thick in the back.
Me holding Jerzie the day she was born.

Holding Payton the day after she was born.
Jerzie.
Her hair was much lighter and long on top. Can you see her cute curl?
Payton
Jerzie Shea
Payton Max
My 2 little blessings!
(I borrowed the last 2 pictures from Mommy.)
So what do you think? Any resemblance?
